Context
The CIUSSS de l'Est-de-l'Île-de-Montréal called upon Genipro's project management services. Among the portfolio of projects entrusted to our resource integrated within the client's team, one project was intended to redesign an oncology transfusion clinic to optimize the services offered. The clinic, in the oncology department of the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital, allows patients to receive intravenous treatments from solutions to fight certain cancers, lymphomas and leukemia. Unfortunately, the room had become too small to accommodate the clientele. The goal was to increase the number of treatment chairs from 9 to 19 and to add 4 containment rooms. However, the project had its challenges. The new clinic had to be free of contamination, while the building it was in contained asbestos, its columns were oversized and the ceilings were too low. Genipro had to adapt to a building constructed in the 1940s.
Mandate
To properly manage the project, we first had to determine the client's needs. Our mandate was to assist in the design and management of the work throughout its execution. We had to successfully relocate 6 consultation rooms to new premises, regroup the nurses in charge of patient follow-up (20 pivot nurses) in one place, relocate the gift shop to make room for the pivot nurses and relocate the oncology transfusion clinic.
Highlights
The project was a learning experience for Genipro. Throughout the project, our team's strength was to know how to rally the various stakeholders to create a climate of collaboration and deliver a quality project, while minimizing the inconvenience for the occupants and the various departments affected by the work.
